Saginaw Bay Fall Birding Workshop

November 15th - 17th

The Saginaw Bay Fall Birding Workshop will be held November 15th thru 17th on the shores of Saginaw Bay.

Class size is limited and seats are reserved upon registration.  Workshop is $400 / person due upon registration.

Fee is non-refundable but can be credited towards a future workshop if circumstances beyond your control arise.

Workshop will be held regardless of weather. Upon registration you will be sent a questionnaire to help us

ascertain your goals so we can help you achieve them. Throughout the workshop you will be offered plenty

of one on one instruction in the field to help you attain the images you want to go home with.

The workshop will commence on Friday afternoon at 3pm and we will give you a walkthrough of the property before

sitting down to help you with camera settings and general information on what to expect during the weekend. Then

we will shoot from blinds until sunset.  On Saturday we meet before sunrise and shoot until we break for lunch. After

lunch we reconvene and go over processing skills and will help you download images and help you to work on those.

We will also discuss how to catalog and backup your images. After processing we go back in the field and shoot until sunset.

On Sunday we meet before sunrise and shoot until 11am or noon.

Accommodations and meals are your responsibility but we are certainly willing to help with suggestions. Because this

is in November and are shooting regardless of the weather it is important to dress appropriately. We will send an email

close to the workshop dates with helpful hints on clothing and gear. Long lenses (400mm +) are the norm.

Bird varieties are somewhat slim in the fall compared to spring. Normally we see lots of shorebirds on the property but

many of those have begun their fall migration south. The property is regularly visited by Bald Eagles, Herons, Egrets,

Kingfishers, and more. But we would be lucky to see any in November. However songbirds should be around in

abundance. We will be shooting from blinds at perches with an autumn theme. The grasses surrounding the property

will be dried and tan in color, creating wonderful backdrops. If we have good light we will work on "Bird in Flight"

images. Blinds are limited to two people and instructors will be with you on and off to help you achieve your goals.

Class is limited to 6 people and seats are reserved upon registration.
