Saginaw Bay Spring Birding Workshop

May 15th - 16th

May 31st - June 1st

The Saginaw Bay Spring Birding Workshop will be held May 15th & 16th (Thursday/Friday) on the shores of Saginaw Bay. The second workshop is May 31st & June 1st (Saturday/Sunday)

Class size is limited and seats are reserved upon registration.  Workshop is $400 / person due upon registration.

Fee is non-refundable but can be credited towards a future workshop if circumstances beyond your control arise.

Workshop will be held regardless of weather. Upon registration you will be sent a questionnaire to help us

ascertain your goals so we can help you achieve them. Throughout the workshop you will be offered plenty

of one on one instruction in the field to help you attain the images you want to go home with.

Both workshops run from sunrise and continue throughout the day, concluding as we lose the light.  On day one we meet before sunrise and shoot until we break for lunch. Craig and Jeff will be in the blinds with you to help with camera settings and offer suggestions.

After lunch you have the option of downloading your images and having us help you with processing skills as well as going over any questions you have with regard to camera settings, composition and more. We will also discuss how to catalog and backup your images. If you don't want to partake in that you may just continue to shoot on your own. The rest of the day is devoted to shooting.

The majority of shooting will be using perches that we have set up throughout the property but when light allows we will work on birds in flight photography.

Accommodations and meals are your responsibility but we are certainly willing to help with suggestions. Because this

is Spring on the shores of Saginaw Bay you will want to anticipate cold weather it is important to dress appropriately. We will send an email close to the workshop dates with helpful hints on clothing and gear. Long lenses (400mm +) are the norm.

Along Saginaw Bay there is an abundance of wildlife, however the water levels have been down so ducks, egrets, etc. may not be available. Normally we see lots of shorebirds on the property but water levels have made that unpredictable.

Because the property is in the path of Spring migration, we have many varieties of backyard birds visiting.  We will mainly be shooting the normal varieties of backyard birds but expect to have Baltimore Orioles and Yellow Headed Blackbirds visiting.

Blinds are limited to two people and instructors will be with you on and off to help you achieve your goals.

Class is limited to 6 people and seats are reserved upon registration.
